Frankincense Land: A Canadian Family in the Sultanate of Oman
When life in small-town Canada doesn’t go according to plan, Chris Brauer and his wife Paula sell their house and car, give away many of their belongings, and move to a country few at home know anything about. With two young children in tow, a thirst for adventure and faith in humanity, they move to the shores of the Arabian Sea.
They are strangers in a strange land, battling culture shock, bureaucracy, and missing the comforts of home – but they discover more similarities between us than differences. More kindness. More laughter. Part travel memoir, part reflection on fatherhood, part love letter to the Sultanate of Oman, Frankincense Land is brimming with humour, history and a celebration of the simple pleasures in life.
